The Born is the kickoff into Cupras all-electric future and a real milestone in the young history of the new car brand. JE DESIGN GmbH is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year and can look back on a bit longer company history. The Seat brand in particular has always played an important role in the history of the vehicle tuner. The Cupra spin-off into its own brand opened a new chapter for JE DESIGN.
With the Born, Cupra opens the next chapter for the Leingarten-based tuner and creates the first all-electric basis for a suitable customization program from JE DESIGN.
The Born gets lower towards the asphalt by lowering springs. These bring about 20 mm more draft on the front axle and 15 mm on the rear axle. The springs are installed with the original shock absorbers. This gives the already sporty hatchback a further plus in terms of dynamic handling without any appreciable loss of comfort.
Corresponding suspension springs are available for all currently available motor and battery variants. The factory adaptive chassis control DCC remains fully functional.
The hot-blooded Spaniard gets wider with the new Lucca anniversary alloy wheel in the “Purple Edition 30”, which is limited to 30 sets. The wheel was specially designed for the 30th anniversary of JE DESIGN and has a particularly distinctive surface in purple satin finish - the JE DESIGN company color. This is combined with a black, semi-matt background. With the dimensions 8x20 OS 40 LK 112-5, the rim is the perfect size and fits into the Cupra wheelhouse properly. Possible tire dimensions include 215/45 R20 and 235/40 R20, the latter variant can be seen in the pictures. A corresponding general operating license is of course available.
A further distance range is possible due to the built-in lowering. This not only ensures better road holding, but also reduces the frontal area and turbulence under the Born, and thus also the overall air resistance. The lowering has a noticeable effect on battery usage and range, especially on the autobahn and at high speeds.
Only minor visual changes are currently being made to the body by a partial foliation in purple satin finish. Cupra logos and lettering were painted glossy black to round off the color concept of the anniversary car.
The tuner is already planning aerodynamic components for the Born. There will certainly be some updates from JE DESIGN in the new year.
The lowering springs and wheels are now available directly from JE DESIGN or from all Cupra dealers.
