As first independent Cupra model, the Spanish crossover coupe is already quite sporty. But of course the Leingarten-based tuning company, as a recognized specialist for sporty vehicles from Spain, would like to go one step further. So JE DESIGN has filled the showcase "wide" and asks the well-known question: "May it be a little more?"
For the market launch of the Formentor, JE DESIGN already offered first modifications for chassis and wheels. At the same time, Jochen Eckelt also announced the development of a widebody kit for the racy Spaniard. These aerodynamic components are available now and not only provide more width, but also significantly more downforce on the rear axle.
Mighty wheel arch extensions on the front and rear axles with indicated air outlets ensure a beefier look and offer more space in the wheel arches. So rims up to a size of 10 x 21 inches can be mounted. The new JE DESIGN performance wheel in 10 x 20 in the color version silk matt black offers the optimal combination of optics, performance and comfort. The rim is manufactured using the weight-optimizing flow-forming technology and therefore weighs only 13.6 kg. The rim is covered with 265/30 R 20 or 275/30 R 20 tires.
Specially developed lowering springs in 2 versions ensure the perfect fit in the wheel arch. Variant 1 provides approx. 30 mm more depth (mounted on the car with white wheel arch extensions) and with variant 2 it is approx. 50 mm closer to the asphalt (car with gray wheel arch extensions).
The previously mentioned air outlets provide a more distinctive look and a contrast paint creates even more sophistication. The 2-part front spoiler with side fins has been specially developed for the WIDEBODY and can only be installed in combination with this kit. In addition to the strong optics, the air flow is positively influenced by the fins. A large roof spoiler with a central air duct ensures more downforce on the rear axle. The rear view is completed by a 3-part rear spoiler lip on the boot lid below or on the side panels. The front spoiler and the two rear spoilers are available either in fiber composite material or, for the first time at JE DESIGN, in elegant carbon fiber. The racing material has an impressive deep shine and brings real weight advantages - for example, the large roof spoiler weighs only 940 grams.
But even with the sound, it is well known that more is possible than can be selected from the factory. JE DESIGN installs its flap exhaust system with 4 black, oval tailpipes in 106 x 71 mm. This means that the system fits perfectly on the original rear apron. The flaps are controlled via the standard driving profile selection. Both in Cupra and in sport mode, the flap ensures a powerful sound. In comfort mode, relaxed travel is the order of the day.
Of cource more sound and optics also requires more performance. JE DESIGN installs an additional control unit here, which was specially developed for the 310 hp version of the Cupra Formentor. Thus, the power increases to impressive 373 PS (274 KW) and the torque is now 487 NM (400 NM series). Of course, this also has a corresponding impact on driving performance. While the top speed is still limited to 250 km / h, acceleration and pulling power improve considerably. The JE DESIGN Cupra Formentor now manages the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.4 seconds (series 4.9 seconds). A 3-year engine guarantee up to 100,000 km is included.
Wheels, chassis and optics are available for all engine variants, flap exhaust and performance enhancement are currently reserved for the 310 hp version.
For a trouble-free registration, corresponding TÜV-certificates or EC approval (flap exhaust) are included for all parts.
